The Slovenian physiotherapy association has a headquarter with 3 staff employees but no managing director. The association holds executive meetings every four months and furthers liasions with other health care professions and authorities. The Slovenian physiotherapy association is not member of a trade union.

The Slovenian association has not stated wheter they have an education department. There is 1 physiotherapy school in the country with about 70 students per year. Studies take 3 years and result in an academic degree/diploma. Studies allow for postgraduate courses.

Physiotherapists are involved in teaching, but the association does not state if physiotherapists also involve in research. Slovenia has not specified whether they have recognition of physiotherapy specialists.

Slovenia has established a code of ethics for physiotherapists. Please contact the Slovenian association for details regarding the country's protection of the physiotherapy title, the professional activity and on the country's regulation of the physiotherapy profession and the rules on registration / licence to practice.

The national authority responsible for the physiotherapy profession in Slovenia is the Ministry of Health. Employment opportunities for physiotherapists cannot be guaranteed.

INSURANCE AND
PRACTICE REGULATIONS

 
 
 

The Slovenian association has not specified whether the physiotherapy services in Slovenia are determined by the profession and whether the physiotherapist is allowed to determine the clinical intervention of physiotherapy him/herself.

Slovenia offers both public and private physiotherapy services. The insurance cover for physiotherapy is paid both through the national health care system and privately by the patient.
